Professional Background
Cara was educated at Cardiff University and Cardiff Law School. She joined M&A in 2009 from Dolmans Solicitors, where she had undertaken the first 18 months of her training contract, qualifying in October 2009.
Area of Practice
Corporate / Public Sector
Cara has assisted the team which has advised on several high profile public sector projects. These include assisting with advising the City & County of Swansea on:
- various issues surrounding the construction, operation and management of The Liberty Stadium;
- various issues surrounding the construction, operation, tax implications and management of a new £35 million leisure complex (“The LC”), including the creation of tax efficient “Leisure Trusts”; and
- the transition and new investment arrangements of its £900 million pension fund.
Cara has assisted in many aspects of M&A work and other commercial ventures, including company restructures and joint ventures.
Cara has also assisted with reviewing, negotiating and drafting various commercial agreements.
Sports
Cara is a member of the sports law team and assists various sporting individuals and organisations on legal matters. She has assisted the sports law team in providing advice to a number of high profile sports clients on a variety of corporate, commercial and finance matters including:
- the Football Association of Wales
- the Welsh Football Trust
- Commonwealth Games Council of Wales
- the Sports Council for Wales
- 2 Premier League clubs (football)
- 4 Championship clubs (football)
- over 30 Premier League and Championship footballers
Cara also works for The Endgame Group (www.endgamegroup.com) which provides Sports Business services to companies, clubs and the public sector.
Cara has a background in international athletics and has represented Wales in both the Long Jump and 100m sprint. She has been ranked number 1 in the country for both disciplines.
