Professional Background

Stephen was educated at Cardiff University and Cardiff Law School. He trained and qualified in 2003 as a solicitor with Capital Law in Cardiff, where he spent four years. Stephen joined M&A in 2005.

Area of Practice

Stephen is a commercial property specialist regularly advising on the acquisition, disposal, letting and funding of commercial properties. He also has experience of property joint ventures through corporate and limited partnership vehicles.

He has acted on a number of large property transactions in South Wales and further afield in recent years across the industrial, office, retail and residential sectors of the property market. He has acted for (amongst others) the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Rightacres Property Co Limited, Richard Morgan and Company, Beckerly Holdings Limited, Peter’s Food Service Limited, The Number UK 118118 and Aurelian Property Finance Limited/Blue Sky Developments Limited. He has links with local banks and building societies and acts for private developers and pension funds.

Stephen also has interests in the environmental aspects of Commercial Property. Stephen acts for a consortium of sellers in a 30 acre development site in the city centre of Cardiff intended to become the largest scale carbon neutral scheme in the world. He provides advice on the growing development and drafting of green leases from Landlord or Tenant perspective.

He has experience of industrial land acquisition, management and the sale of land and relocation of going concern businesses. He also advises industrial clients on aspects of their operations on site, including the legal effects of the statutory contaminated land regime.

Stephen is considered to be an “Associate to Watch” in the Wales property market by Chambers and Partners.
